Primary 2 are scientists!!!

Primary 2 have begun a joint project with Primary 6 in which we are participating in a national British survey. It is a survey by the British Science Association and Centre for Ecology & Hydrology to gather data and investigate the diversity of bumblebees in the UK. They asked schools to join in and help test the hypothesis that the diversity of bumblebees is affected by their immediate surroundings and the wider landscape.

The children have already begun going out to our newly potted lavender plant with P6 pupils (and Mrs. Robson) to observe the movements of the bees. P6 have been helping us collect the data and upload it online.

If you would like to partake in the survey with your child you can request an observation worksheet from Mrs. Baxter. Each observation requires a minimum of 5 minutes and we welcome you to complete these observations before school begins or just after school has ended. Completed observation sheets can be returned to Mrs. Baxter and we will help her upload the information.

Please help support our experiment.
